Sunday June 27 Breakfast We left Brundall early so that we could catch the tide at Yarmouth. We were looking forward to a good sail but sadly there was no wind so we had to motor all the way through to Yarmouth, and it wasn’t until after the bridge at Acle that we could put the sails up. We had a lovely sail all of the way up to Potter Heigham with great winds assisted by the black cloud that was still following us around. We found a perfect mooring spot not far from the old bridge. It was getting a bit late but we went over to the bridge to see if we could get a view of morons trying to go through the bridge at high speed without the aid of a pilot. Strangely enough it was the family that requested we go to the pub, as it was still very warm. We didn’t see any disasters, but did notice that the cloud was getting bigger and darker, so we set off back to the boat, and almost made it before the heavens opened. We got the awning up in record time and watched a great show of thunder and lightening. When you are
planning meals on the boat it is important to always have a backup plan.
I had planned on doing a BBQ as I had some rather nice pork chops sitting
in brine. From my years of weather observation when sailing I could see that
the squall would pass quickly and that the night would now be clear, which
it did and I set out the BBQ on the bank. I was just getting the charcoal
out of the locker when I noticed small raindrops on the water. A quick glance
to the north saw a massive storm cell coming through. So we sat under the
awning again, eating appetizers waiting for it to pass. When it did the BBQ
was full of water, as was my bunk, because I had forgotten to close the bloody
porthole.
